Parking and restrooms are available in Kent Stein Park (Houser St. and Oneida Ave.).
Description
A component of the City of Muscatine's trail network, the West Side Trail connects Discovery Park, Kent Stein Park, and Deep Lakes Park. The separated trail can be accessed at numerous locations, with trailheads located at the three major parks.
Amenities at Discovery Park include:
- Environmental Learning Center
- Shelters
- Playground
- 1.5 miles paved hiking/biking trails
- 2 miles mowed trails
- Handicapped accessible fishing dock
- Wildlife viewing blind
- Outdoor raptor enclosure
- Restrooms
- Historic cemetery
Amenities at Kent Stein Park include:
- Concession stands (2)
- Lighted baseball diamonds (8)
- Lighted softball diamonds (9)
- Lighted horseshoe courts (9)
- Picnic areas
- Restroom facilities
- Fishing in the slough
Amenities at Deep Lakes Park include:
- Restrooms
- Access for canoes, kayaks & small boats that can be carried from the parking lot
- Boat ramp on Lake Chester and Lake Jewell
- Fishing Dock on Lake Chester
- Beach at Lake Chester (open 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily)
- 1.2 mile paved walking and biking trail
